My name is Spencer and I am a rookie in all aspects of hog hunting. I have been twice with a couple of the guys from this board. I have a 10 month old male walker x cat that I got from a one of their buddies. I am looking forward to being able to talk and get advice and maybe the chance to get on some more hunts. I live dallas.

Welcome Spencer .... regardless of how many hunts I have been on .. there is always something to learn and new experiences to be had. THATS what makes this a great sport. Feel free to ask any questions you might have and chime in when you have something to add.

Wanted to ask a few questions. Does anybody run a cut vest on there bay dogs? My dog is so new to this (as I am too) and I would hate to see him get tore up when he finally gets on a hog. Also if anybody has a good method to get a dog to quit digging I would love to hear it. Thanks and Good Hunting!!

I really have no "chronic" diggers ...so I cant help with THAT ..... but I think as far as vests on a cur dog .... I wouldnt ..... there are few "dumb" hog dogs that live long. I USED to run a vest on my strike dog because he was so rough ..... finally he got cut BAD twice without it ... and NEVER got cut again. A cur dog NEEDS to learn respect AND his limitations ..... all you can hope is that they LEARN sooner than later .... I DO run cut collars on ALL my dogs ... and vests on ALL my catchdogs.

Thanks EJ! I have a cut collar but just didn't know about the cut vest. None of my buddies use them but I figured I would ask around anyways.. I would hate for my dog to get cut but there are risk with this style of hunting(just like any other style of hunting) Like you said hopefully he will learn sooner than later. Thanks again
