Buzz, There are few registered hog hunters with catahoulas. You can find a lot of cow dogs in the registered dogs but registered breeders find more money in the pet or show customers. I have tried to stay with what has been proven to hunt. I have had some that would bay in the pen but didn't have the hunt in them. My line goes back to Cutter and Top hand, which was some of the first dog registered in 1977 when they started. I stick with this blood line and breed only dogs that hunt in the woods. Some of my pups have gone to cow work and some to pet homes but I try to keep them in the hands of hog and bear hunters. I have 6 dogs with 5 different Professional Hunting Guides that are used for blood trailing. The Wager blood line is used mostly for cow baying as is Mr. Sam Mason in LA. The Two Diamond blood line from Diamond Cutter is used to day for bay pen or show. I'm one of very few Certified Breeders that use them in the woods on hogs. There is a lot of Champion blood lines out there but few great woods dogs and it's because the pups go where the money is. Right now I have a Champion bay dog for sale because I would rather be in the woods hunting. Pups from proven woods dogs are few and far to fine but there is some out there. Most of my good woods dogs wouldn't make it in the pen, two different worlds.

Buzz, Yes, I have heard of Full Boar Kennels. And there are a lot of exceptions out there that does good and a lot of hog dog in the North and Canda that are Catahoula. Still think we could get together and get you this pup, I don't really need another dog but would take something else on trade, if interested.

Howdy Douglas.....I have met you on a previous board and read alot of your threads....I have always liked what you have to say and respected the things I have read.....I do have a question for you....i live in Tennessee and it cost alot to have a dog shipped on the airlines and I was wondering if you know anyone a bit closer to me that still has a hunting line of Catahoula's that you may recommend......I have a bluetick Catahoula cross that I really like the temperment of....he has been worked in a bay alot and been in the woods a few times.....I took him to Georgia a few months back and he winded some hogs that were jumped out of a brush pile a few minutes earlier.....he took off with another dog....a plott hound, but didn't hang in for the run.....he came back after about 10 min. I am hoping that after hunted awhile he will do better......I like the Catahoula breed and just wondering if it may work well for me here in Tennessee and Georgia were hogs are slim and run for awhile....lol!! Any info. would be appreciated!! Thanks and God Bless Tom

Tom, Thanks, have some friends in North MS. that raises Catahoulas, Tommy Brooks-662-568-7995. Also have a friend in GA. that has some good dogs but will have too look up his address. Good luck and don't stop looking when you see the first one. Find a good one and go from there.
